OVRO VIsit

The Owens Valley Radio Observatory (OVRO) is located in the eastern Sierra mountain region and is a four hour drive north of Los Angeles. The observatory hosts several active science programs and is a key development site for DSA-2000. Facilities on site include the DSA-110 and OVRO-LWA, pathfinding platforms for many technologies of the DSA-2000.

We will coordinate a site visit and tour of OVRO as part of the DSA-2000 conference. Please fill out the survey below before February 10 to confirm your interest and help us plan.

Details:

  • Departing morning of Thursday, March 23 and returning afternoon/evening of Friday March 24

  • We will coordinate transportation with vehicles available among conference participants and Caltech staff (this will provide some flexibility in driving times)

  • Formal site visit from 1-5pm on Thursday

  • Potential for side trips to local attractions, including Sky Rock petroglyphs, Fossil Falls rock formation, Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, Manzanar National Historic Site, and more
